100% Biodegradable

We supply 100% Biodegradable bag. The resin is based on corn starch which is a renewable material.

Biodegradable Plastics is capable of under-going decomposition into carbon dioxide, methane, water, inorganic compounds, or biomass in which the predominant mechanism is the enzymatic action of micro-organisms. This film grade has been evaluated for compostability in accordance with International Standard ISO 16929 (2002-11-01)"Plastics - Determination of the Degree of Disintegration of Plastic Materials under Defined Composting Conditions in a Pilot Scale Test". It also complies with European Standard - EN13432, USA Standard - ASTM 6400 and Japan Standard - "GreenPla".

European standard EN13432 is widely adopted as the international standard for biodegradability of plastics. There are four requirements :
- 90% of the material must disintegrate into small fragments less than 2mm in size within 3 months of being placed in Industrial Compost (Test method ISO 16929).
- 90% of the material must biodegrade and change into CO2 and water within 6 months (Test method ISO 14855).
- The material must meet strict limits for heavy metal content set on a national basis.
- The quality of the resulting compost must be safe for the environment. Toxicity tests are conducted using plant seedlings and earthworms (Test method OECD 208A and OECD 207).

The majority of biodegradable plastics is used in Europe where composting infrastructure is in place and where regulations, legislation and taxes support their use. And many countries are being driven by a tax on "non-biodegradable" plastic bags. It is an important material innovation because it decreases dependence on petroleum and reduces the amount of waste material.
